Apparently stainless steel mirrors aren't available either!
Carl this is in music, and he is a musical legend for many of us.
In this case an several times fallen legend,
but no less a music legend.
If it's OK to post about country artists why not soul artists?
And I know there is at least one steel track of his music.

I didn't know that. Did James Brown use a steel on one tune? (I can't even begin to imagine it) or did a steel player record an instrumental version of one of his songs?
BTW, the band Run C&W did a bluegrass version of "I Feel Good" and once you get over the initial shock (and laughter) you realize that 1- the tunes lends itself to the genre quite well, and 2- The band's rendition of the tune is KILLER. |

I think this is right where it belongs. James Brown is a music icon, and he's made some bad choices. Domestic violence is very serious, as is child abuse. Sometimes it's easier to digest this kind of news using a little tongue 'n cheek humor. If it takes a little humiliation to get someone's attention - then so be it!

...except that comments like "Kareem of Wheat" have nothing to do with humiliating the accused (but not convicted) domestic violence suspect, but such comments have everything to do with racial stereotyping...

Pat, Thank you for your statement about racial stereotyping. Right now, the entire country is up in arms about profiling, and I think it's a little insensitive of Jim Cohen and Mike Perlowin to perpetuate this kind of humor on an open forum, ESPECIALLY under the "Music" heading. I thought music was the universal language??
I find it interesting that a guy named "Cohen," from Philadelphia, and a guy named "Perlowin," from California, would post this kind of stuff. Sorta refreshing, since, if a guy named Junior, or BUBBA, from Ball Ground, Georgia had written it, the "P.C. Police" would be on him like butter on a biscuit.
Mike and I have exchanged "insensitive" humor, in private, via e-mail, in the past, and are likely to do it some more. At least I hope so. But we're talking about two men, one who died in 1980 at age 59, and another who's 70 years old, on a public forum!
