Just saw a Suzuki car commercial on TV with soundtrack from Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, playing and singing "Route 66". Ka-ching!

Isn't that refreshing...to have an actual song in a car commercial? I must admit, I was getting tired of hearing "Like a rock..." ad infinitum, and "Wrap it up, I'll take it..." every 10 minutes!

I really miss the good ol' days when ad agencies actually wrote their own songs

Better for them to place a song that already has an audience tie-in.

Yes, I know -- why spend all that money creating a something original when there's so much good stuff out there already.

Still I miss those old little jingles --

Alright, everybody together, now --

"See the USA, in your Chevrolet"

"Chrysler Plymouth(bumpity bum), Comin' Through-oo-oo, Chrysler Plymouth(bumpity bum), Comin' Through-oo-oo!"

"Pontiac! the WIIIIDE Track, yeah, Pontiac! the WIIIIDE Track!"

"Wouldn't you really rather own a Buick, a Buick, a Buick -- Wouldn't you reall rather own a Buick"

Thanks for confirming that Jimbo. I told my wife that was "Asleep at the Wheel" and she said she thought the group was called "Route 66". Anyway, the commercial got our attention.

Well, "Route 66" would be a good name for a group! (Just not that group)

Jim ,How about for your next album you be "asleep at the steel". So many funny pics come to mind. I still get a kick out of the Bar scene.

Joe, it's a great idea, but alas, it's already been done. I think it was Hambone who did it quite a few years ago. Pity...

Glad you're enjoying the new CD!
