I saw Rod on Letterman last week, before I read this thread. I can't remember the standard he was torturing, but I just thought, "why?" Rod is one of the all-time great rock singers, especially with Jeff Beck, before he was famous. Is this part of aging gracefully? He was definitely out of his league, ego run amok.

Hi, John...
I can't agree with your dismissal of Rod Stewart's latest venture - it's nice to hear those songs on TV, they get the changes right and, Lord knows, there's a lot of worse 'music' assaulting our ears these days.
Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed your rant - maybe almost as much as you must have enjoyed writing it!

i did'nt expect to be here but i just heard over the radio Rod the Mod's version of "i dont get around any more"
i did'nt find his version particularly convincing
i prefered puttin'up w: him when Jeff Beck was playin'
any of you listened to Dr John's "Duke Elegant" ?
