Hey, if Kenny Rogers can still get airplay?...
It is sad that GC has a problem. He is not alone in that as many of us can attest. Let
us just be grateful that he didn't hurt anyone or himself this time and pray that
he gets on track soon.
I owe a lot to him. I watched him closely on TV and tried to play along during the round-robin portion of his show. I've seen him in concert several times and always came away knowing I'd just heard an amazing talent at work. I wish him well.

We are all sinners saved by grace. It doesn't mean that we aren't still tempted, and on occasion, yield to that temptation. "Let him without sin cast the first stone". Sermon over.

I don't like to think that Glen has 'ended up like this' - I hope it's just a bump in the road for this monumental talent.

I've been a huge fan of his ever since someone took me to see him in London over thirty years ago - I didn't know his name, but I was amazed by every facet of his musicianship.

Check out his singing on a lesser-known album of his - "Reunion", a collaberation with Jimmy Webb from a few years back - ir's sensational!

Yup. When I go in drag I don't even think of shaving my mustache. I'd feel like a "sissy".

(Not that there's anything wrong with that..)

JUst as David Cobb said, Don't worry, when he is asleep, I can in now way even carry his case. We all have our demons, but talent is something that lad has. Charlie Parker,Joe Pass, Billy Holliday, Smiley Roberts all had demons, but thats they're problem, I enjoy theyre' work.

Speakin of Roger Miller, I believe the "other one" had his little problems too.

Life has it's little ups and downs.

Better to have "done" and "screwed up" than never to have "done" at all. Huh...

I am one of those who feels SAD to hear that GC has fallen off the wagon. I consider him a monster talent, a national treasure, and it is painful to see this happen to a man who, by most accounts, is a very nice person when sober. He is on my prayer list.

I honestly think, that if Glen had chosen steel guitar to have been his main instrument, he may have been the best! what a talent even without steel! kr

Doug,
You forgot one:
Country singer Wynonna Judd was arrested in November 2003 for drunk driving. Following a traffic stop, Nashville cops detected the smell of booze on the 39-year-old performer, whose eyes were watery and dilated. After consenting to a Breathalyzer, Judd blew a .175--more than twice the Tennessee limit.

Well I heered Glen is coming out with a new release of "When I Kneed you."

Wynona actually looks hauntingly like one of my girlfriends... She's got that "smile"..

Hmm....

That smile is eerily similar to the famous smirk in the Mona Lisa. Maybe the Mona Lisa's "secret" is that she is pickled.

I think this is a better idea.

Not just another happy faced guitar player.

With all the kidding, this guy is and always has been too good to keep down. First time I saw him was in the Memorial Coloseum here in '66 with the Beach Boys. Still the best live show I can remember.

Is this what Doc Watson would look like if he went electric?

It is a shame about GC, but I hope in the long run he benifits from this strong warning. Nothing like a bit of social castigation to put you back on the wagon again.

There is a reference from Eric about Diabetis, but lets not overlook it's inverse cousin Hypo-Glycemia, or an over production of insullin caused by excess sugars in the bloodstream.
This then causes a depression like state coupled with diminished thought speeds. You are sad and feel stupid. A bad combination for someone in a bar.

So either take a nap or, have another round.

I suspect this malady is more prevalent in alchol related incidents than it is ever given credit for.
If it is recognised it can be dealt with by self regulation of sugars intake, if not, you are at it's mercy.

No you don't go into diabetic shock and die from it, but it still is a real problem for many. Especially in relation to drinking.
