Howdy Folks;

I came across a Kaufman & Fender Lap Steel in a local pawn shop recently it was dated 1945-46. The shop is asking $900.oo for it.
Is this a fair market price for this?

Thanks;
Pete

Without knowing the condition of the guitar, I'd say no, that is not a fair price. I couldn't possibly guess at a fair price without seeing the instrument in question.

I beg to differ with Brad. This is a highly collectible instrument and to a collector is worth ever penny they are asking. Leo and Kaufman designed this before many of us were born.

A similar model is in the now defunct Fender Museum.

A collector will pay mucho for that..if you plan to play it ont: it is worth much much more,,,E Bay my friend and your pockets will jingle jangle jingle. edited
Get a copy of Richards Smith book,Fender the Sound Heard Round The World..Its the Bible on Fender.The pawn shop dont realize the real value. "Duh"

Vintage Guitar Price Guide has it between $1400-1500 for one in ex. condition, and right now their estimates are low compared to street prices I've seen lately.
