Dave, My understanding is that the HWY 1 is built in the U.S. using Mexican parts and hardware. That's why it costs twice as much??? |

Also the Highway One series has a clear Satin finish, which basically means it's unfinished. ( no material or labor expense here )
These Strats play and sound great ..but be prepared to enter it into "Dent and Scratch" city.
At $600 bucks I am considering one, the sorta Blonde color with the maple neck..
I have played several and they are very consistent . I like em' .
thats my story and I'm stickin' to it...

I saw one of those, a "transparent" blonde Strat with maple neck this week in a music store window and it looked real nice, kinda `50ish. (Except for the tuners). Fender´s new catalog says they are made in the U.S.A. in their Corona factory. The finish is "a high resonance, low gloss, acrylic lacquer that lets the tone ring out and sustain for days" and makes them "loud even before you plug ´em in (the acid test for a great sounding electric instrument)"
If I were looking for a six-string not wanting to spend too much, I´d give them serious consideration.

I tried a few of these out in a store awhile back. They ALL sounded different from each other, and none compelled me to buy one. As is the case with all guitars, try before you buy. Or, if you're ordering, send it back if you don't like. My number one guitar is still my $80 Rogue Squier Strat. Now, if I were willing to spend $800 i'd search out a real Strat. "Til then i'll use what works. |

I thought they were U.S. bodies and necks with Mexican pups and hardware. The ones I have seen look pretty sweet. Also, I think the bodies are lacquer and the necks are poly-coated. Slap a pair of Bill Lawrence pups on and you should be good to go. |
