Who's in Suzy Bogguss' band? Was that John Pennell on bass? She sounds terrific, as always.
Buddy Jewel's fiddler looked nice, but did she sound, well, out of tune to anybody else? |

How about that "swing" tune by Suzy! Too bad Tommy White wasn't there to add some machine gun licks. |

Who is the man playing the red Franklin behind
Buddy Jewell (not randle currie). It looked sort of
like Bruce Bouton. -Derek |

It looked like the same guy played lead guitar with Jennifer Hanson, then played Steel & fiddle with Suzy Boggus. The lead guitar player with Suzy was Pat Bergeron who's better known as Mr. Alison Krause. He used to work with Chet Atkins in Chet's later years and was on the TV special "Read My Licks". I liked the guy's playing on "Somday Soon" on that S-10 Emmons. He's one helluva musician. Does anyone know who he is?..............JH

Randle, Dave and all the steelplayers sounded great backing the artist on the Opry.
With Suzie, the guitar player , who was that? Steel, fiddle player & piano player knocked me out!
It's great to have all the artist with steel!
Great show![This message was edited by Theresa Galbraith on 29 June 2003 at 11:44 AM.] |

Jennifer Hanson is just another no talent rock singer. They are a dime a dozen in Nashville. Suzy blew her away. She's a real talent with a monster band. Thats why Chet worked with her. Stunningly beautiful voice. |

Kevin,
In Jennifer's defense, she said it was her new single. It has steel and it's country!
How cynical can you be? |

The steel/fiddle player with Suzy Bogus was Fats Kaplin. He also plays a fine accordian. ...Jeff Bradshaw |

Suzy indeed has that rare pure voice that needs no EQ. It's a shame that she isn't up front in today's music. |

I quite like Brad's records, but the couple of times I've heard him on the Opry, he sounds a little sharp in places - anyone else noticed that?

Sorry I missed it. Jeff, I saw Fats Kaplin a few times with the Tom Russell Band - terrific musician, and that was generally a terrific band. And some of the greatest new music I had heard in ages. That was late 80's, maybe real early 90's. You're right - Fats plays great accordian too. |

Fats is a tall skinny guy that can play anything with strings.

I just got Suzy Bogguss' new CD, "Swing." No
steel, just great music. Some standards, and some new stuff that sounds like standards. May be the purest voice in the business. I ain't arguin' with Chet! |
