I'm looking for either a cassette tape or CD of Haggs with the song on it with a STEEL intro and turn around. I have purchased three differant tapes so far and all have the earlier version featuring a lead guitar. Please tell me which tape or cd I can find the steel version on. "Thanx" Bill .

To the best of my knowledge the song has always had an accoustic beginning. I have several cuts and the all start the same. Not saying there isn't one ,but I have never heard it.

A couple of Xmas's ago I heard a version of this song by Alan Jackson on local radio...this version had a steel intro and steel lead in the middle....I believe it was on a Xmas compilation album or something....have never been able to find it and am still looking....it was "way cool"!

Guess it wouldn't be a Haggard cut then, but a Jackson cut. Bet it is awesome.

The song is called "If Were Not Back In Love By Monday" was released by Hag a few years after the song you mentioned. It has an almost identical melody although it wasn't written by Hag.It features double tracked steel by Norm really nice....Pete

Thanks so much for sending the MP of Allen Jackson's Version Rebel, I appreciate it man !!!! Although I sure like it and the steel, it's not what I have been hearing. Someone mentioned it might be from a "recorded live performance" somewhere where Norm did the work on it, and there's a chance it was on the song "If We're Not Back In Love" but I'm almost sure I heard it with "December" interesting ---- Norm, where are you ? help !!!!!-
