Saw the Derailers last night in St. Paul. Very good show. I haven't seen them in about 3 years. Scott Matthews (formally of Dale Watson) is a nice addition to the group. Also had the pleasure of hearing/meeting fellow forum member Chris Schlotauer (I appologize for butcher your name Chris). Chris and his steel sounded nice. Although Chris experienced a few technical difficulties on stage, Chris was able to pull through.

What do you do when your amp dies? Well Chris sat and clapped to the beat of the drummer while a replacement amp was found. What else is there to do? Chris you handled it all well.

Yeah I heard it was great, couldn't be there. Heard Chris did handle it well though. Hey Chris, I heard you had the pleasure of meeting my dear old dad . He said you pick real good man, wish I could've been there.

Steve, don't worry. My name has been interpreted many ways. I appreciate the kind words and meeting everyone on my trips. When we travel, we fly, so our amps are always backlined. Although I ask for a Nville 400 or a twin, I have to work with what I get. I was thrilled to see a new looking 400 provided. Sound check was great, but during the first song, something cut out. I jiggled a few chords and everything was OK. The amp was sitting in the bottom of a flight case with casters. Somehow, during the next song, the amp fell over backwards. I could still hear the steel execpt it was muffled. When I looked back the amp was pointing at the ceiling. Then the amp went out completely. While the sound crew changed the amp out to a Vibrosonic, I broke the #10 string, and while changing the string, one of my finger picks flew off somewhere. At that point, I just started clapping along with the music, because I can't tap dance. Too many things went wrong in such a short time, I can't say I learned anything from my experience, except take a deep breath, take a big swig of beer, and smile. It makes for a good story anyway. The guys in the band got a kick out of it.

I attended the Derailers Concert in Kansas City on the 2nd and have to say it was just a great experience.
I have caught the Derailers here before, but this show blew it away. The reason being, Chris on the Steel.
My buddies that went with me were just amazed with his playing, as I was also. I spoke with Chris for a short bit outside after the show and have to say he was great to talk with. Super nice.

I've been in a lul lately with my playing(though most folks wouldn't even call it that) being a newbie and all. But after hearing Chris I've been practicing everyday since.

I just heard the Derailers are scheduled to be back in Nashville NC in the fall; saw them there several months back and they were super. Chris was with them then, and did a super job...Chris, do you have access to the dates yet?
