Trisha Yearwood is awesome to me! Wynonna's first cd, her singing is the best! Patty Lovelace, Connie Smith, Jo Dee Messina, Jessica Andrews, Karen Carpenter, Carolyn Dawn Johnson & Nora Jones to name a very few!

I like Dolly on her early songs, "Blue Ridge Mountain Home", "Coat Of Many Colors", etc. Also, Emmy Lou, Melba Montgomery, Loretta, Kitty, and Tammy. Of all the duets Ive heard, I like George and Melba singing "We Must Have Been Out Of Our Minds". Martin.

I think Shirley Manson's voice is sexy. I think the chick from Evanescance has a great voice even though the cd is just ok.

Martina McBride is an awesome singer too! I love every song she's recorded. Patty Loveless is a great singer too. I'm also a fan of Lila McCann. I love to hear all of the ladies in country music sing. Brett Day, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel

It's also hard to keep 'em lit, they move around a lot. It was much easier to smoke banannas, but then that was over 30 yrs ago. Curiously enough, there were actual Congressmen who drafted a Bill to try to make it illegal to smoke banannas. I believe United Fruit had a talk with them and they backed off.

I think Heather Myles is one of the finest country singers to come along in a long time. And I really like Tasha Valentine on that Nashville Star TV show. She has great potential IMHO.

How about Nanci Griffith?
I like her big little voice.
Matraca Berg - A wonderful voice! I just love her "Lying To The Moon" album.
By the way, the steel solo on the song "The things you left undone" from that album is one of the reasons i started playing pedal steel. (coincidence is another)

Jazz:
Ella over Sarah any day of the week
Anita O'Day (nobody sounds like Anita)
Elaine Elias (almost no range but she sings the absolute essence of the Bossa Nova and a much deeper musican than Astrud Gilberto)
Chris O'Connor - what a great, classy singer - especially with Tom Morrell.

Folk:
Karan Casey (former singer with Solas)
Eva Cassidy (if Eva doesn't break your heart you don't have one)
Rosie Flores (vulnurability that comes through even in the uptempo rockabilly songs)

Country:
Patsy Cline
Allison Krauss

Pop:
Jo Stafford (what perfect intonation and bloom on a note! check out American Folk Songs.)
Edith Piaff (I especially dig the records she recorded in English)

Bill Llewellyn came close to my list. I'd have to add Sara Evans. I just love the way she sings.
