I,for one think this could be a good one. Charlie Walker always does a good Western Swing or Shuffle song and T.W. and the house band get to wail some great solos.And if we're lucky CMT won't cut Dickens' ballad he usually ends his segment with. Pee Wee Rogers will give us a lesson on how to accompany a ballad (to my mind HE'S A MASTER OF THAT!!!). BUT knowing CMT they will feature B.S. over substance.

Not the greatest tonight. Trick Ass Ho's should have been in Vegas or somewhere besides the Opry stage as THAT was not Country in any fashion. I thought they were OK the first time I saw them perform but they weren't this time. Nice outfits! It followed their music perfectly. Cyndi Thompson is a good singer and I enjoyed her. They cut one of Charlie Walker's songs but he got to sing his signature song at least. Little Jimmy Dickens is a great showman and still a wonderful performer. Jo Dee looked as if she had been rolled around the back room of Tootsie's before coming across the alley. I didn't care for her first song but she redeemed herself with Bring on the Rain. Katie Cook stepped in shit when Trick Ass Ho's asked her what did the Grand Ole Opry mean to her and her first answer was "a pay check"! I don't know who Jo Dee's steel player was but he did good. Tommy cut loose behind Charlie and PeeWee ALWAYS does good behind JD. That's all I have to say about it!

Jimmy and Charlie did a great job. The rest have NO PLACE on the Opry stage or anything that has to do with COUNTRY music. Of the non-country acts, Cindy Thompson was the winner hands down.

Mike, You got that right about Kate Cook. Those people know nothing about the Opry except a paycheck and not Johnny Paycheck.

Tommy did great behind Charlie Walker and Tater always sings "country".

Can't say much about the rest. Everyone knows my feelings about the new (not) "country".

Did anyone notice Tommy White's risque move in the upper frets, while taking the ride on Charlie Walker's big hit of the past? It was mighty pretty, as well as something new. There was so much movement going on, that it was difficult to follow. My recorder was turned off, so that makes it a little tough to remember approximately; what he did to get that great sound.

Bill, Opry Live is replayed on Sunday mornings so turn that VCR on and grab it this time around!

Then tab it out and show us how he did it!

To those who "only" get the 'live" version on TV, you missed some great solo work by "Tommy White" behind Doyle Dikes. Sir Tommy played at "light speed" on a 'C6" solo. Unbelievable and untouchable! Only Tommy could have pulled this one off I think!

If you only have a TV and no radio "or" computer, then I guess you're off the hook. But if you're within radio range or you have 'internet' there is no excuse for not hearing some of the best pickin' you'll ever hear. Maybe instead of watching the "Live" TV show (especially if it offends you) you should tune in to your computer and listen the Opry. It'is world wide over the net! And there is always the archives if you miss it!
( of course, if everyone did that there wouldn't be anything to "bitch" about!

The radio show was far greater than the TV portion and usually is.The announcing on the radio show is not bull$hit and accurate to the word..I don't watch the TV portion unless someone I want to see is on that particular night.I like Willie Nelson after taxes and Mighty Mouse in Pajamas But it is his good and Country band that keeps his music strong.If you want good western Swing and shuffle with great picking and and great vocals,check out the portions Ray Pillow sings on. I can't understand why this man isn't mcing or used more. The band honks when he sings and visa versa.Just my humble country lovin opinion.

Jo Dee's steeler is my good friend Steve Byam. He sometimes attends the Bell Cove jam. As a matter of fact, I was in Nashville Saturday night and had a good long talk with him in the alley behind the Ryman and he told me to call and remind him of the next jam at Bell Cove and he would meet me there. I'll introduce you to in April.
