J.W., I also saw Nashville Rebel at a drive-in around '67. If I am not mistaken, one of the Carter girls (Anita or Helen) portrayed Waylon's love interest and I think, Cousin Jody played her father. I thought the movie was so bad that it was good. BTW, My favorite movie soundtrack is Bill Murray's Larger than Life, but only because I'm playin' steel on it.

I also remember seeing a drive-in movie from around the mid-sixties starring Hank Jr.
Anyone else see it or recall the name ?

I'd have to go with the Great Jerry Reed in "Smokey and the Bandit."

"No, no.. I am NOT Hank Snow's brother."

But seriously, for the soundtrack? I'd have to say either "Red Headed Stranger" or, if it wasn't for Jane Fonda, "The Electric Horseman."

A movie so bad, that it's totally cool is "Door To Door Maniac", starring Johnny Cash as a serial killer and Merle Travis as a mob guy. Other than the title song it's not a country music movie though. That movie makes Ed Wood and Russ Meyer look award winners.

I just rented a movie called Harmony Cats and it was not only funny but also had a lot of nice songs with steel backup.

"Las Vegas Hillbillies", "Hillbillies in a Haunted House" or anything with Doodles Weaver in it!

Ed Wood and Russ Meyer are my favourite filmakers, then the Coen Brothers, David Lynch and Pedro Almodivar.

I have to find some of these films here, especially Killers Three!

A couple of shockers were Ballad of a gunfighter with Marty Robbins and second fiddle to a steel guitar. Dreadfull.
