We could
Looking for the words to the old song "We could." I think it was Jim Reeves, but I'm not totally sure.
I believe it begins:
"If anyone could find the joy, that becomes a girl and boy. We could, we could you and I."
Parts of it come back very grudgingly, but not the whole thing. I'd like to sing it to my wife for our 35th wedding anniversary.
Thanks a bunch. Ken

Ken: In No Peddlers, back about a month or so ago, there was a thread titled Jerry Byrd's Diatonic Tuning (be careful as there are some others titled about like that...)
There is a link to The Record Lady and on page 22 of her song list, she has the original record by Jimmy with a classic pedal steel guitar backup by Walter Haynes. You could get the lyrics from there and listen to it as well.
Regards, Paul

If anyone could find the joy
true love brings a girl & boy
We could, we could you and I
If anyone could ever say
that their true love is here to stay
We could, we could, you and I
When you're in my arms I know
you're happy to be here
And just as long as I'm with you I'm happy anywhere
If anyone could pray each night
And thank the lord for all that's right
We could, we could you and I

Tim is right and I might add that Felice wrote this song as a birthday present for her husband Beaudloux. This couple at one time made their home here in Hendersonville. Beaudloux is no longer living and the last I heard, Felice Bryant was living in Knoxville. I had heard they went to Knoxville and opened up a restaurant. If you watch Tennessee football, everytime Tennessee scores they play "Rocky Top" another great song by this couple.

Good song! We still do it and it always works. If they don't get up and dance, better check their pulse.
Seems like Don Gibson had it on an early album, although I can't remember if he used a steel. One of those old standards that will be around as long as there are real country bands playing live music.

Hey Tele,
I think that in the chorus of the song if you substitute the word THERE for the word HERE then you'd have it perfect. We also do that song every weekend and people don't get tired of hearing it. We stole the change from Herby Wallace's version I believe. It's at the end of the verse and instead of going to the 5 chord you go to the 2m b7 and 5. Example: In the key of D you'd go to the Eminor Cmajor and end with A7 chord and then an augmented if you like.

If anyone could find a place,
That guitar pickers could embrace,
We could, we could, you and I.
If anyone could ever shout,
That music's what it's all about,
We could, we could, you and I.
When we're on the Forum,
We're all happy to be here.
As long as we're together,
Making music is our cure.
If anyone could pray at night,
And thank the Lord that all is right.
We could, on this forum, you and I.
Thanks, b0b.
