Anyone happen to see the program on P.B.S. last night ? Featured Edgar Meyer on bass---Bela Fleck on banjo----Mike Marshall on mandolin. Some "kinda" spectacular performance. Also "Orange Blossom Special" with a full symphony was different !!!! |

Len..................I was "spellbound" for a complete hour.
I have never - ever - heard Bass played like that, I guess that's as good as it might ever be.
All the music was so uplifting I hope it would be shown again ..... I was on my toes when the three of them did that special number. The virtuosity was immpecable to say the least.
We need more of that kind of stuff on T.V.
Bob Mainwaring. Z.Bs. and other weird things.

The show was great. Was it just my imagination or did the conductor really yell "yeehaw" partway thru Orange Blossom Special? |

That show was on PBS here in Massachusetts about 2 months ago. Yes, it was great! Evening at Pops has a long history of featuring top instrumentalists, such as Mark O'Connor, Chet Atkins, and others.
