Backstreet Boys Special Last Night>
I had no intention of watching the show.Dixie had it on as I walked by the T.V.(I was restringing me guitar and ran out of beer)heard some really good harmony, before I knew it I was into thier music. These guys are good. The messages in their songs are clean and something the teenagers need to hear.I compare thier harmony to that of the Statler Brothers(none better). Not much smoke and flames on stage just a good clean presentation.Really enjoyed it.Yes it's me that wrote this.(I hear the flames a coming, coming down the track)

A couple of years ago, I had the priviledge, I guess you would say, to take my daughter and step-daughter to a Back Street Boys concert in KC. I had heard several of their songs and figured I could put up with them for one night. Amazingly they were very very good and put on an excellent show. They can even play instruments with the best. Their harmony was great and before I knew it, I had really gotten into the concert. 15 thousand screaming teenage girls was a bit much but I actually walked away finding that I had enjoyed it.

Your experience is similar to mine with the Dixie Chicks. I was already turned off by that awful name (Dixie Chicks)that someone had stuck them with, and had never listened to any of their music until I had to buy one of their albums recently to prepare for a show. I was surprised..I actually liked some of their material, and my grand-daughters come to our show just to hear it. (Is this a clue that we need to incorporate all kinds of music whether we like it or not?) www.genejones.com

*pinch* Yep, I'm not dreaming.
I can't remember if it was BackStreet Boys or N'Sync I saw on an HBO special sometime last year.
Can't say I cared for it at all.
But I do like:
The Wilkinsons (duh! )
Jessica Andrews
SheDaisy
Debbie Gibson (now I've done it -- my wife says to NEVER admit that)
The Carpenters
James Taylor

Another group that has a good "message" and features the WORLD'S BEST HARMONY is a group called "Take 6".
Now, I know you all think that that's a pretty "tall" statement...but you gotta hear these guys! It's a six member vocal group that has simply "UNGODLY" harmony!!! They do a lot of Christian music, and they put groups like "Manhatten Transfer", "Boyz 2 Men", and "The Back Street Boys" (sorry Ray! )to shame! They do acapella stuff that sounds like an orchestra, and they have several CD's out. These 6 black guys certainly aren't Country, aren't new, and aren't well known, but they darn well should be! If you like close harmony, these guys will "knock your socks off".
IMHO, their harmonizing is...well...nothing short of phenomenal!
(I have their "So Cool", and "So Much 2 Say" CD's)

you're so right about "Take 6" !!! And try to be honest, how could something like BSB or In'Sync compare with them?!!
I sang in a five-piece DooWop band for about 7 years so I really admire these black guys....and Les, since you're talking about electronically enhanced we have to exclude old Webb Pierce???
c'mon who are you talking about?

Back street boys actually are not bad.The presentation is not what I would seek out but at least our teenyboppers are enjoying something of some musical value.
Gene mentioned the dixie chicks. One might want to disregard them as another go-gos or spice girls but thats way off base. They are very talented and likeable. Please forgive Me for mentioning how damned cute they are.Wow!
