I would care if the beancounters in nashburg lost their ass.The majority of good music is on independant labels anyway. Why can't,they understand what the people really want???[ |

It's the same kind of arrogance that Detroit had in the '70s. "This is what we make and this is what the public is going to want". It took the Japanese auto makers, who actually asked the customers what they wanted and then delivered it, to turn things around. I don't hold out much hope for them to save country music. If there was a button I could push to bring down the 'suits' in the entertainment industry, I would push it. On the other hand, it's show business, not show art. |

Perhaps what we need is a visit from some Japanese cowboys. |

Maybe this proves no one is ever really happy.
I work with Ralph Lauren Designer Fragrances and the goals increase each year wanting to still remain #1
Sales still remain higher than-ever before in years past. It's never enough.
It would be nice to hear "Thank You For Your' Contribution's." This pertains to business.[This message was edited by Theresa Galbraith on 09 June 2001 at 02:02 AM.] |

Theresa, Nobody calls to tell you how good your are doing or how good your product is. The only time you hear from someone is when there is a problem or they don't like your product. Just human nature.
I managed a computer network and help desk, till I retired. No one ever called to say how great the network was running or that they were getting instant response time. The only time we got calls was to complain about the network or for a problem.
However, there have been several newspaper articles in the last year or so that more or less say the same thing. Nashville sales are down and the target audience they have(had) for their product is dwindling and they are on to other types of music.
There are four FM "country" stations that I can pick up. Two in Tampa, one in Orlando and one in Ocala. I paid particular attention yesterday and it seemed all four had the exact same play list, both the current songs they were playing and the "oldies" (songs about 2 years old) that they were playing. Something is not Kosher.. |
