READ ALL THE HINTS CAREFULLY!!!
Here are hints 6&7...
(Hint #6...this is a "novelty song")
(Hint #7...the singer's first name was "Bobby")
From here on out...only 1 guess per person!!!Those guessing more than once, or submitting more than one name, or editing their post, will be ignored.
The first person with the correct guess will receive their pick of any 2 CD's from Bobby's FORUM catalog...courtesy of your's truly.

That's right Graham...Lem guessed it! Actually, Slim Lattimer was on the right track, as well as Steve Frost. I've already e-mailed Lem, and he'll be getting his pick of 2 CD's from the FORUM catalog...great job Lem, and thanks to all of you for playing.
This all got started when I was corresponding with Jason Odd about Gary Paxton. Gary's not real well known, but he's had a big impact on Rock music. He was the producer of "Monster Mash", as well as the leader of the Hollywood Argyles band (they did "Alley Oop"), and he was half of the Skip and Flip duo that had the '50s rock hit "It Was I".
I just asked the question for fun, but when everybody started jumping in, I thought I'd "reward" the first person with the correct answer. This helps Bobby's FORUM, helps the artists that have CD's for sale, and makes it fun for everybody. This was also a good question because you didn't have to be an expert in Country Music, or the steel, to have a chance. I might do this every few months (if Bobby doesn't mind, and you all enjoy it). Also, I hope you all check out Bobby's catalog...it's what keeps this FORUM going.
Take care...and thanks again!

Donny:
Ya done good! and your generosity is to be commended! I didn't come close until hints 5 & 6, but by then it was after 4:00 pm Eastern, when I got home from work and Lem already had it.
Maybe have to see if they'll give me a computer and the net at work!
