Trivia...3 X a million seller?

Post by Donny Hinson »

Here's a little trivia question for anyone that might be interested! This song was released 3 different times within the past 40 years. Each time was about 5 years apart, and each time, it sold over a million copies.

It is the only song to ever have done this!

Anyone care to guess???

(Hint #1...it ain't no country song)

It was released 3 times in the last 40 years, with each time 5 years apart?

Does that mean that the time period between the first and last release is 10 years?

I may need to have the 10 year window narrowed down.

Was it perhaps done by two different Motown artists, and another?

Was it a song that was rereleased by the same artist because it was in a movie?

Nope!

(Hint #4...this singer appeared as a guest star on the Steve Allen Show, also I've Got A Secret, and he's appeared on Crook & Chase, and Prime Time Country, as well!)

(Hint #5...this isn't a movie theme song, but the song's been featured in 12 movies, and as many TV shows, as well.)

Any more guesses?

Tomorrow will bring the last 2 hints, and then it should ring a bell for someone!

OK, now I've got it! The song was "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens. Another great instrumental for steel guitar.
