It's a winner, folks.

"Jungle Gems" is a swingin' slice of tikimania, the sort of thing Dad listened to back when Hawaii was celebrating its statehood, but dragged through the minds and ears of a bunch of San Francisco-based musicians.

This is great mai-tai sipping music, the soundtrack to my own internal tropical paradise. Featuring the alternating sliding steels of Eric Rindal and Frank Novicki, APE! has unleashed a musical gem unheard since the heyday of Hawaiian music.

Most modern Hawaiian music is too laid back, languid and downright sleepy; this music is a caffeinated daiquiri, a shot of Starbucks
in the Singapore Sling.

APE!'s new CD "Jungle Gems" may be heard on their web site:
http://www.tikimania.com/ape.html

I recommend it.

Mighty wild stuff! Wow! Not exactly my bag, but the steel plays some neat stuff.

I learned Dick McIntire's "I'm Pau", great intro on steel on Dicks version. These guys get on my nerves, like listening to a bunch of high strung computer nerds waiting to get laid. That's one heck of a web site!
