The Palomino house band when it had Tony Booth, Al Bruno, and Jay Dee Maness!

Mel Tillis & The Statesiders
The Clark Family Experience w/o mom & dad!
Buck Owens & the Buckaroos
Merle Haggard & the Strangers, still cookin'
Hank Williams Jr. & the Bama Band
Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder
The Earl Scruggs Revue
Rodney Crowell or Roseanne Cash's band when Albert Lee was with them!
Poco
Nashville West w/Clarence White
The Kentucy Colonels w/ Clarence White
The Byrds w/ Clarence White
The Eagles
The Flying Burrito Brothers
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

and last but not least one of my favorites of all time "The Desert Rose Band" featuring John Jorgensen on Guitar, Jay Dee Maness on Pedal Steel, Chris Hillman on guitar & lead vocals, Herb Pedersen on guitar/banjo & vocals, sorry I can't remember the bass player & drummers names but this has to be one of the finest examples of West Coast country ever assembled. They had their s%$t all in one sock for sure and I miss hearing that great stuff on the radio!

What Jerry said--The Desert Rose Band. Twas Bill Bryson on bass and Steve Duncan on drums, I believe. Man they were tighter than...ummm...tight. Yeah, that's it! An excellent live band, too. Can't forget the Tennessee Two...Luther Perkins and Marshall Grant. Maybe not technically great musicians, but they made Johnny Cash what he was/is.

I liked the Strangers with Clint Strong playing lead guitar around late 80's early 90's, that fellow is incredible.

Keepin' it country with Melbourne group the Starliners...and yes the Desert Rose Band are awesome!

Boomer you mentioned Gene Davis & the Star Routers, I haven't heard any of their stuff together,I don't know whether Gene ever recorded with them. Some of you SoCal boys got to see them on the box or live, hell Jay Dee Maness was a Star Router for a time!
I got one of Gene's Lp's circa the late 1970's and it is great!
Got some Red Rhodes & the Detours and Johnny Meeks and the Detours {just Johhny fronting Red's band really},all very tasty.

any group with Clarence White, preference for the Kentucky Colonels, Nashville West and Muleskinner.

Former favorite...The Troubadors 1958-78.

Favorite "pro band" now performing??? I haven't a clue. Due to the trend in past two decades of "de-emphasizing" the sidemen, there's not a single band, not a single one, that I can think of...that I know all the player's names.

Gene Watson's Farewell Party Band

Ditto on Bill Anderson's Po Folks

I suppose Connie Smith's band is real good now with Johnny Cox Image

I have several favorites but,ONE of my favorites was Tommy Overstreet's "77 to "81 "Nashville Express". We had a "killer" 19 yr. old drummer (Roger Cox),a couple of great guitarists,(seperately),Willie Glover & "Doc" Peters,& a Kick-@$$ bass player,(Allan Howard). They managed to cover all my "clams".
