I've used "Showcase 41" finger picks ( from Herby Wallace) for a long time for steel playing. Now that I am trying to play dobro, I am still using these. I like them alright, but are there any others I should try that would be more comfortable, and stay in place with the harder picking style the dobro demands. I have very large fingers. This has been a problem finding good picks. They are the very best I've used for steel, but....

| I also use the '41 picks. I find that they work well for me. Occasionally I use the Jeff Newman picks, but lately I've been using the '41's more than anything. I have switched thumb picks since I took up Dobro again and started using the Golden Gate pearl lookin' picks. They're heavier and have more attack. Hope this helps. |

In my experience, the 41's are top of the line. Hard to improve on that one.
Second place is the Kyser Old Style.

Propik Reso. They are slanted slightly so you can dig in straight. They come in steel or brass. Propik claims the sound is different, but....

| i usually use the propiks..they're comfortable...but awhile back with a cold weather period, i had a hard time keeping them on my fingers so went to my old nationals which are stiff and can clamp down tight and cut off my circulation. |

| I ordered some Propiks. They are alright, but the slanted tips soften my tone a little too much for my ear, and they are a bit to thin. Just my opinion. I could live with them, if I didn't have my '41s. I guess it's all a mater of preference. |
