I got the CD when it first came out. What a fantastic song and powerful statement. Just to show you how "controlled" we are in this part of the country, I finally got a DJ on the request line of one of our two "hot new country" stations and asked him why they wouldn't play this record. He said "It's not a matter of WON'T, but rather CAN'T because the song hasn't been released yet as a single. I offered to send him a CD but he said he already had it but couldn't play that cut until the record company said he could. What gives here????? I forgot to ask him who owned the station. I guess there's a good possibility it's the record company. Arrrggggg. Oh well, I'm wearing the CD out listening to track 2.

Dave, I don't know the politics at the station you mentioned, but a local station here in Minneapolis/St. Paul has played it on occasion. I say on occasion, because they don't have it in any kind of rotation, like the other "Country" songs they play continuously.
I agree, it is probably the most pointed song of its kind to come along that will cause a lot of discussion, pro and con on traditional country music. Cudos to the songwriters and for George and Alan for recording it for national release.

When I was doing radio full time, I often got requests from the record companies NOT to play specific tunes , as the were not "released" singles.
The companies always sent promo copies of the full CD or sent them on the CDX compilation cd's .
I usually complied with an official request.

I'm from Pennsylvania. Any of you familiar with the nation wide show-After Midnight? Anyway, they played Murder on Music Row once every hour when they got the CD. Great music. I don't understand why people won't take lessons from George Strait. Every time he comes out with a new single, it skyrockets. Why? because he is putting music out that actually has a point to it.Best newcomer on the market? Brad Paisley gets my vote.

It's getting some airplay here in Austin, but I don't think it's in the regular rotation.

Hey Guys,
I just bought it at Walmart. Everything George puts out goes #1! He has style no matter what he sings. Yes, Nashville is really playing it!!
He's nice to look at too!
