Real Country Music !!!

Post by Bo Borland »

I have found it , I've been saved!
I finally tried the digital radio channels on my Dishnet DSS. Incredible, three channels of uninterrupted music, real C&W, from real pickers.. Multi-generational stuff from the 40's to new releases from traditional music makers..
Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Sounds like it might be worthwhile to get the dish just to be saved from the stuff they call "New Country"!! Oh well, I guess there are worse things people could listen to. Image Image Maybe if I ever get a dish, I'll look into that.
[This message was edited by Paul Stertz on 22 January 2000 at 02:42 PM.]

Boy, am I glad I read this post! I just posted a thread about how the Country Music Magazine has gone to hell. See "Now I'm Really Bummed Out!"

My pet peeve with disk jockeys has been the habit (choice?) of shutting the recording
off shortly before the end of the piece in
order to push an ad. Sometimes, just to
announce the name of the DJ.

My tv cable has begun the same thing. During
some of the ball games, they get back to the
action after the first ball or two have been
pitched. The opry last night, was no exception. They put local ads on and covered up some of the beginning announcements.

Now, on big time Tv, we are seeing pop up ads
in the background. remember sublimal ?

I have had this DSS system for at least 3 years and never thought about the digital radio signals on it . There are NO commercial spots, only continuous music. They overlay the title, artist, label& producer. That's all folks..
I was offered a job by a local radio station the other week, production director, but when I found out what they were willing to pay, I declined the offer, then I proceeded to tell the Station Manager, Music Director, And Program Director how much their station sucked. I told them how they were the reason for the decline in music sales, ratings, and country music in general, with their top 15-20 programming mentality. It appears they may make another offer...

Good for you, Bo. I always speak my mind in job interviews. I figure if I get the job, they're gonna hear a lot more of it anyway. One guy asked for my "unbiased opinion". Yeah right - like there is such a thing!

I got the job. I hope you do, too. If you don't, you really wouldn't want to work there anyway. Who could stand listening to that crap 8 hours a day.

The top twenty usually has 3 or 4 really good songs and 3 or 4 really bad songs. The rest are just mediocre. The good ones become "classics" (we hope).

Is the music on this DSS in tune? I mean to 440? On radio here in Lake Tahoe, I only pick up one "country" station but can't listen to it because they play everything too fast. It gives me the creeps listining. If I try to play steel along with it, I have to move my bar way sharp, like half-way inbetween frets.

Ray Bob , It is pretty close to A440... There have been a few that were a little high or low, but they were mostly on the "Classic" channel ...stuff like Floyd Tillman & other real old stuff...
