It looks like a buddy of mine got the steel gig for the big new years show. Last year I saw Wynona on tv and she kept making this foghorn/honking sound every chance she got in her tune. It was crackin me up. What a freak show !
I was drinking beers one night with this guy who was her road drummer for a year or so. He said that she never even knew his name. He also told me that the singer he was working with at the time pulled him aside and told him that he was Jesus. So I don't know how verifiable his stories are.

| Hey Billy J. Barbara came out of whatever last night on TNN and although she appeared to be stuck on herself(where is my mirror) she did show her talent on several instruments. She did that 5 string thing on "Rollin' in my sweet baby's arms" then let the steel player take a nice ride, she called his name but I didn't understand her. Between Basketball on the two ESPN's and her show, I caught her on the Saxophone, then she did a real nice ride on the steel guitar doing "Steel Guitar Rag" then on a double neck standard guitar were she played one neck and the guitar player played the second neck and they would switch around, it was quite amusing.The lady is talented,but a country singer, NO! I wouldn't write home about the show,but that's TV. 73's... |

Hey Mike. If you read this, could you explain the nickname. I can understand the "monster" part because you are definately a monster player. What about the "cookie" part.

For a while I have found my self pretty much disturved about the down fall of countrymusic
But Im thankful that I still a memery of how it is supose to be. I only wish that the producer's would produce a new name for what their putting on the market.For they are an insult to true country and its a shame.
Its kinda like the cival rights thing all over again.As it has been stated,Jass,Blues,rockBluegrass,classic,Opera
Have stayed in their place.........SO
Somebody come up with a new name that will stick, Has the name HILLBILLY been use?

Two points:
1. Have Cruella’s (Wy’s) solo sales floundered that far that mom’s return is required.
2. How miraculous! Moma’s recovery from deadly hepatitis, was it?
I smell yet another publicity stunt here. My wife called this years ago when they had that farewell tour. Someone that sick doesn’t launch a national or international concert tour. It just doesn’t happen that way and it was an insult to those who truly suffer and die from that disease.

You can recover from Hep C. Also, its victims aren't sick all of the time. One treatment that can cure about 25% of cases is chemotherapy, which actually makes you sicker than the disease for a while. I suspect that's what Naomi has been going through.
Most of you aren't aware that Naomi and Christina (now Wynonna) sang with my band The Cowpokes back in the 70's, before they were "The Judds". We taught them the song "Cow Cow Boogie", which eventually became a minor hit for them.
I think that Wynonna is a major talent, and I'm happy for her success. It is a true rags to riches story. I'm also glad that Naomi is feeling better. They put out some great records in the 80's. I hope they can repeat that success.

Bob I will have to agree,the Judd's are talented. and when they were doing the 1984song,Mama he's crazy now that was good stuff. But not the head banging stuff Wynonna
is doing now.I guess she's got to so her oat along with the rest of the poprockers.

I think she's following her heart. I don't believe that it's a record company that pushes her towards R&B - I think it's what she's most comfortable doing.
Remember that she was pushed onto the country stage at a very young age. She was singing in bars with us when she was only 12 or 13 years old. It's not like she ever made a conscious decision to sing country music. Mama made that decision for her.

Personally, I always enjoyed Wyoming and Nairobi (sp?) "The Dudd's" better. This of course was the duo of Pinkard and Bowden.

I am not happy for anyone who is "rich". I have avoided being "rich" all my life, and intend to go on doing so. It is one of the few things in my life that I am proud of.
I have no fascination for the wealthy. Money doesn't impress me, but it sure plays ____ with most other people!
