As in, does anybody know where to get them
I've looked a lot places -- including Elderly, AllParts and StewMac -- with no luck. I can't even find them on replacement sets of slotted-head tuners.

Hope I am on the right wavelength here.
I see ebony tuner buttons for sale that fit Grovers that are used on Taylor Guitars. On ebay Taylor guitars. I think you can buy them new by calling Taylor. Not in their catalog yet, I don't think. 2 sizes. The size they use on 12 strings and the size used on 6 strings.
One of my Taylors came with the ebony buttons.
Hope this helps |

Wrong wavelength, but I appreciate the suggestions!
I'm looking for buttons for three-on-a-strip, open-gear tuners like the ones pictured at the bottom of this ad. I believe they're referred to as "butterbeans." |

I don't know if this is any help, but I have a Kalamazoo flat-top from the 40s (I think) with the same tuners as the one in the ebay ad. Kalamazoo was Gibson's economy line at the time, so the parts might have been Gibson's , but more likely they were farmed out to the same people who supplied them to the Maybell guitar.
A Gibson collector/authority might be able to tell you. |

Thanks for the suggestion, John.
I saw an 1930s Regal in a shop yesterday with a brand-new set of black buttons on it, but no one seems to know where they came from.
I'd still love to find out for future reference -- because I gave up and put a set of white buttons on my old Regal squareneck last night. |

I got some white buttons for my old Supro from Scotty's Music (St. Louis). I thought that he had black ones as well. These are the type that you "heat-set" in place after removing the old, crumbly buttons. |

Thanks to the good folks at Scotty's (not to mention you, "D"!) I've found what I've been looking for, even if it is a day too late: WD Music Products [This message was edited by Russ Young on 30 May 2003 at 02:56 PM.] |
