1949 Bakelite Rickenbacher Lap Steel.
Here is another instrument I've run across in my web surfing. The seller is asking $950.
I have no connection at all to the seller but, being unable to afford the guitar, I thought I'd point it out on the off chance that another forumite might have an interest.

I'm trying to figure out the "same type of guitar the Beatles used" line in the sellers description, aside from the obvious fact that John and George owned some Rickenbacker "regular" guitars. Man-that's a stretch of a sales pitch.
Did the Beatles ever use a Bakelite lap steel on any of their songs?

John played lap steel on "For You Blue" on "Let It Be". I haven't seen the movie lately, but I believe it was a Harmony, or Supro...

I believe Lennon played a Hofner. If the reference really is just to the use of Ric 6 & 12 string Spanish guitars, man, that really is a stretch.
FWIW I paid $425 for a twin to this guitar 5 years ago. I felt I paid on the high end of the spectrum at the time but it was a reputable seller.
No question, though--the market has heated up since then.

That's the thing with "collectables" .....
They only appreciate in value.....Rarely do they go down in price ...
I'm sure that some of us can remember when we could find HUNDREDS of old Harley's for $1,000 each , or a little more !!.....Try it today !!....$1,000 won't buy you a stock frame !!....
How much is an original 59 Gibson Les Paul today ??...... Hmmmmmmm !!.......Jim
