C6 licks

There have been alot of people on the Forum asking about playing C6. How about everyone throwing a cool C6 lick or two out here! I'll start. This is in the key of G. All eighth notes, the faster you play it, the better it sounds. Use alternate fingering, T = thumb, F = finger, either index or middle, choose ONLY one or the other. The first lick is straight G scale. The second is similar, but has a couple of altered notes (b5,aug5,b9) so it sounds a little jazzier. Let's get some stuff out here.

This is so simple I'm almost too embarrassed to post it! It's a jazz/blues intro that Duke Ellington used on a song entitled "Hi Ya' Sue". I'm sure it's been used by countless others.

It's in 4/4 time and the first measure are all triplets. I'll post more of it if I get the nerve.

How do you post Wav files like this?? What equpiment do you need? What program? I have a mic input on my computer. I guess I need a mic. Which one would do?

Jeff,

I just use an old SM58 microphone about 1 ft.
away from my amp to a tape deck. The tape deck output goes to the aux input on my sound card, using the Sound Recorder that comes with Windows(Accessories/Multimedia) from the Start Menu. You'll need a cable with a RCA phono plug(s) to 1/8" stereo plug. Looking forward to your wav's!

Hey Mike, what a great idea with the .wav files! Everybody should be able to do this with gear they've got lying around. The fidelity is not nearly as important as hearing the timing and the groove. Let's see more folks posting this way! That's one of the great things about Ricky and Graham's site--you can HEAR what you're looking at.
Way to go!
