Thanks Bengt for your wonderful gift

Post by Jeff Lampert »

This tab for Lloyd Green's "Almost Home" is breathtakingly awesome. There are just no words to describe it. I think it is necessary to inform all the Forum members, many of whom never even come to this section, to come receive this incredible gift that Bengt has sent us. Ricky, if you and b0b think it's ok, you could post a message in the other Forums letting everyone know that they should come see this. You could also let the Off-Topic people know as well, or I could since I post there regularly. Everyone needs to see this. Bengt, thanks a million for an amazing piece of work. Just amazing.

Thank You for the Xmas present Bengt! Now I don't have to do all that "Wassailing" 'neath the Xmas tree. Tell me, do all the steel players with the initials B.E. have soooooo much talent? Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I actually was not aware that my initials was the same as the one and only B.Emmons.
It certainly took some hours to find out where and how things was played on Almost Home. Finding the low notes played together with the melody gave me the most trouble. But I learned sooooooooooooo much about this instrument when I tabbed this song that I have not realized it yet. There is certainly some interesting things happening worth further study in this song. I am truly amazed about how L.G. is able to make melody lines move in all possible directions.
I thank all you people at this forum for giving me inspiration to keep on playing this incredible instrument. The duration of some notes is not correct (I just did not have the time to fill in everything, the notes played should be, hopefully 99% correct), and you have to listen to the original track to get a feel of how the slides are done. If someone has tried to play this song before I would like to get some feedback about any differences.

Merry Xmas and a Happy new Year.

The knowledge of our instrument and the 'brotherhood' (regardless of gender) shown by our European counterparts never ceases to amaze me. All I can do to express my thanks is to practice, practice, practice. Image

Happy Holidays from Austin, TX, to B.E. and Forumites everywhere.

Correction: It's off the REFLECTIONS recordings!
(ps. This is my favorite song from the 5 CD's reissued by S.O.R. from Mr. Green.)
[This message was edited by wjpauly on 01 January 2001 at 08:57 PM.]

Thanks everybody. "Almost home" is not the only beautiful song on the Reflections Album. The response from all of you gave me inspiration and energy to tab another one from the same album.
Hope you enjoy "Reflections of oudewater" just as much.

Forever thankful
Bengt
