This picking pattern made me happy when I
finally figured out how to do it. I use
it often and on all different string groups.
This is all pick blocking and it is very
easy to do once you get the feel of it. It's
harder to explain than it is to show but here
goes. The 5th string and the 8th string
should never sound at the same time. I only
use my middle finger on the 5th string and
thumb on the 8th. Start by picking the 5th
string at the 3rd fret and then your going
to simultaneously pick the 8th string while
silencing the 5th with the middle finger.
It's kind of like passing the football( or
note) to the next finger. This is a really
neat and fun way to spice up your playing.
You simply follow the chord progressions.
