Peaceful, Easy Feeling -- tuning?
Hi!
I'm new to the forum and making the transition from guitar to lap steel. Does anyone know the tuning for the Eagles' Peaceful, Easy Feeling? I suspect it was done on a pedal steel, but maybe I can get close
Also, I haven't found any tab for this song -- I checked the non-pedal tab website, cowpie and olga -- any others?

I always thought it was played on a regular guitar. Would be nice to know for sure. Every time I saw the Eagles, the guitar player played the licks.

You guys are right, it's a b-bender tele. Here's an excerpt from John Beland of the Burrito Bros. on the telecaster forum....

"Bernie was a great acoustic guitar / banjo player but very new with an electric when he joined the Eagles. He played banjo on one of my first records in 1968.
Back then, alot of us pickers at The Troubadour were into this thing of mimicking steel guitar riffs on guitar...What made Bernie such a unique player was that he was so tasty nomatter what he played. So when he joined the Eagles he had these cool steel riffs he picked up from around town.
Glen Frey (who I also played with a few years earlier) could play cool steel riffs on his acoustic. He and I and JD Souther used to play a song they wrote called LUCKY LOVE. It had this great riff
in it that mimicked a steel..simple but effective.
If you listen to any of the stuff I did with Swampwater (Ronstadts band "reissued on CD as Swampwater on One Way Records) you'll hear pre-Take It Easy riffs two years before the Eagles. Thats because Bernie, myself and a few other guys at the time were into this on out Teles. This was before the bbender. When Clarence came it was Warp 10.
No..there was no steel on the Eagles first album. That was all Glen and Bernie. It was recorded at Olympic Studios in England..."

Has anybody converted the entire guitar break to E9th tab?
I have always thought that the riff could be played on steel very effectively...thereby "imitating" the imitator. That would be so cool!
I would love to have it.

Bud,
I've been playing that solo pretty much note for note on E9th for 10 years. There's really not much to it. Starts in A at the twelfth, moves back to E on your chromatic strings at the seventh, moves back to A at the twelfth, then to B at the fourteenth, back to the twelfth, actually playing in A over the I,IIm,IV,V; then back to seventh fret to resolve. If this doesn't help, I'll try to tab it.

I've been playing that solo pretty much note for note on E9th for 10 years. There's really not much to it. I changed the last couple of bars to better
suit pedal steel. I played it fairly close
to the original for a couple of years, and it
never came off as well as the original six-
string part. Anyway; here it is,take it for
what it's worth. Listen to the track for
phrasing.

peaceful easy feeling
I'm pretty sure Micky Adams has posted a youtube video showing how to play this on E9 Pedal steel.

YES, Micky Adams has it on youtube. I've been doing it for years as well with several different bands, so I got my lead ride from Micky Adams. One of the "tricks" (for lack of a better word) is dropping the 2nd string to C# and raising the 5th string UP to C# for the unison lick in A & B at 12th & 14th frt. Sidebar: all the bands I play with ALL refer to it as the "steel break" but it was originally a guitar. I just nod my head and say, "Sure, I got it !!"
