Lost in the Feeling

Post by Will Bartell »

I have looked for years trying to find a Conway album that has this song on it. To me, it is the best steel song to get radio play in twenty years. John Hughey is incredible and is the reason we all want to play this stupid instrument. Has anyone ever tabbed it, or do you know where I can find an audio copy to do a takedown? Thanks!

Will,
Here is a link to the tab and realaudio of the turnaround and outro for that song. Hope this helps.

Will,

I totally agree with you, this song always makes the hairs in my neck stand straight up. I have the Conway Twitty album, but unfortunately there''s hardly any steel in the other songs.
I want to make compliments to to people who tabbed this (and many other songs) and the people who run the rebel pages. You do a FANTASTIC job.

Great song. Robby Turner nails it
instrumentally on MAN OF STEEL. I wish
someone would TAB his songs. I know Robby
could turn out some killer rhythm tracks.

I bought very few records in the 80s. One of those was ‘Lost’. It stood out from any other record i had heard on the radio, being fairly new to country music at the time. I was mesmerized by it. I used to play it over and over, many times just picking up the needle and playing the steel parts, and at different speeds, 45, 33, vari-pitch wheel (You know, doing this can reveal subtle harmonies that are masked at normal speed). Certainly, one of the all time great steel 45s.

I did not know who played it until i was watching a show where Barbara Mandrell said to Conway, [paraphrased] "I wanna take your steel player away". Then she introduced John Hughey. That's when i made the connection. I don't think they played ‘Lost’ on that particular show.

I want to hear it NOW! but it is in a box in a storage facility. Boo Hoo! Well, i do have John's new CD. Image
