This is my first post. I need help figuring out George Strait's "Overnight Male" steel intro. Is it E9 or C6? Does anyone have or know this part and have it tabbed out?
Thanks,
I've been following this site for a year and you guys are really great.
Again Thanks

I need this one too. I've been faking it for too long.

This is how I play it; I use a 12-string universal sort of tuning, but I'll transcribe it for C6;
1---------------------------------------------------
2------------------8--------8-8---------------------
3--------------5---8--8~~~--8-8--8~~~---------------
4-----------5--5---8--8G~8--8-8--8G~8---------------

By "E" I mean the standard C6 5th pedal, "F" the standard 6th pedal, and "G" the standard 7th pedal. I have to two-foot it to get the notes on the 8th fret where both pedals are used. I don't know if Sonny Garrish had some different C6 setup when he did this and could do it with one foot or with a lever... Thanks Bill, I have a E9/B6 universal setup and I couldn't keep my rkr engaged and grab pedals 5 & 7. Since my first post, I've listened to the song alot and I've come up with the first part (E9 neck,I'm new at this, but I think it's pretty close), but I am missing the 2nd part where it runs down from F to Bb. I'll try to show the tab below. Bill can you help with that 2nd part? Thanks

Somehow I knew that was going to be the next question (E9 version) - here goes;
1---------------------------------------------------
2---------------------------------------------------
3---------------------------------------------------
4-----------------9L-------9L-9L--------------------
5--------------6--9--11~9--9--9--11-9---------------
6-----------6--6-----11~9--------11-9---------------
7------~~6--6---------------------------------------
8------~~6L-----------------------------------------

4----13-13--11-11---8-8-7-6------6-------------------
5----13-13--11-11---8-8-7-6------6------------------
6----------------------------4~6--------------------
7---------------------------------------------------
8---------------------------------------------------
9---------------------------------------------------
10--------------------------------------------------

notes:
(1) if you have a pedal or lever that raises 5 & 6 a whole tone (like E. Bovine’s 3rd pedal setup) you can use that instead of going to fret 11 – this will sound more like the C6 version.
(2) If you have the “Paul Franklin” 4th pedal lowering strings 5 & 6 a whole tone you can use that instead of sliding up from fret 4 – this is what I do on my universal
