These are some of the patterns I try to visualise when I'm playing over minor
chords . They are just modal scales , and used over a Major or its
relative minor . I use them like pockets to help me see
where the notes are lying , and don't always play the exact notes either .
It depends on the song , or the mood .
I would tape the chords Cm Fm Gm7 Cm a few times , and then play each
pattern over them . The beauty is that each pattern has it's root in its major
open position , with the exception of the last I . That would be the AB position
for C , and instead of using fret 3 with the B pedal , I gave it fret 4 ,
no pedal , to keep in the same pattern as the V7 one .

This next pattern starting on the 9 string D , is basically just the IV pattern
again but starting and finishing on a D# instead . It is also a major scale for
Eb . The reason I added it is because I would use this one for playing harmony
against the V7 pattern above .

and it can be used over something in Cm or Eb major .
