Does anyone have tabs for "Teach your children well" by CSN&

Post by smitty »

Would anyone like to tab out the intro to "Teach your children well" by Crosby, Stills,
Nash, and Young. Jerry Garcia played the steel guitar intro on that one, and I cant seem to get it right.

thanks

Got this tab from someone else (maybe Roy Thomson?, but I don't remember) on the forum about a year ago. Anyway, it's not quite how Garcia played the into, but it's a good start, if that's what you're after. Haven't tried the turnaround and 'outro' to this song.

Hope this helps! And thanks to the original person who sent this tab to me!

Michael:

That is my tab and I'm glad you posted the thing. The
subject keeks "croping" up.
I have used this Intro with the band and it works well.
Funny thing however, don't try to play it too straight,
be a little loose but not too much. I found I had to
touch the guitar different and think different than I
usually do in order to get it to sound right.
My advice to anyone learning this is to play the "Garcia
original intro" and listen to the cut many times til it is
written on your brain, so to speak. It will not come
easy, but like anything else you will get it if you try
hard enough.
I used to have the turn-a-round on my hard drive but
for some reason it is not there now.
Right now my top neck is "E" Diatonic but it will be
going back to E9th. shortly. If there is interest I can
re-write the turn-a-round which takes in a little C
pedal.

Joe has provided me with the break (+tab) and outro (no tab) for this as well. It is online on the 1974 page now.
