This song on the Alan Jackson "Under The Influence" CD has a cool lick (excuse me, hundreds of cool licks) in the 1st verse right after the phrase "I've always got a smiling face". This is my interpretation. Going from the 9th fret back to the 8th is hard for me to do smoothly. See what you think...

Thanks Bill,
That works and sounds a lot better. Thanks for the reply and the tab. I guess this means you have the first lick figured out too. The one after the phrase "Whenever I chance to meet..". I'm having trouble with that one too.
Thanks again for the good ears.

I think the first one is something like this..
1___________________________________________
2____________________________8______________
3_____10~10B_______10________8B____8________
4__________________________________8________
5__________________10_______________________
6_____10~10B________________________________
On my guitar my LKR pulls strings 1 & 2 up to the pitch of strings 3 & 4 ('G' lever?), so I use that instead of the str 3-4 8th fret combo at the end - gives a cooler pulling up sound that I think I hear Paul doing. I'm not sure if that's how he's doing it.
so that would be:
1___________________________________8-8G____
2____________________________8______8-8G____
3_____10~10B_______10________8B_____________
4___________________________________________
5__________________10_______________________
6_____10~10B________________________________
1___________________________________________
2____________________________8______________
3_____10~10B_______10________8B____8________
4__________________________________8________
5__________________10_______________________
6_____10~10B________________________________

I think I figured it out. Try this.
<font size="3" face="monospace"><pre>
1___________________________________________
2___________________________________________
3_____10~10B_______10________8B~~8________
4____________________________8E~~8________
5__________________10_______________________
6_____10~10B________________________________
</pre></font>
This is the same notes except the notes cross on the last one.
Thanks
