My friend Dave Barnsfield has a Gibson guitar that he wants to sell.
I don't have a picture, but the info I do have is that it's supposed to be pre-war,
It's a model "AB-104" and serial # BWE 397
Looks like a "Charlie Christian" pickup.
So, what is it , and what's it worth ?

Basil:

According to Gruhn's Guide, an "AB 104" is a (Gibson-built) Recording King Roy Smeck lap steel. They have pear-shaped bodies with sunburst finish. The pickup is described only as a "blade pickup in an oval housing." A model 1151 (w/ a screw-on back) was built in 1938; model 1023 (glued-on back) from 1939 - 1941.
