i'll agree w: John K about Robert Johnson's National.
that's NOT the guitar he had on the original pic.

I've read that there are only two known photographs of Robert Johnson, and this is the only one where you can identify his guitar. In the unadulterated photo, he is holding a Gibson L-OO.

Actually the Gibson in the 'studio' picture is a L-1.
After seeing the Fine Resophonics picture on that site I had a friend make up a doctored photo of RJ playing one of my cutaway metal body tricones. |

On second thought, Tintin does NOT play Nationals. He plays Fine Resophonics.

Hey Russ, now ya got me wondering! I'm sure it's not a L-00 since it's a 12 fret guitar in the pic. I have a plan for an L-0 which is a 12 fretter and looks sorta like the one in the pic, but I'm sure I read it was an L-1.

You're absolutely right about the 12 frets, although the picture doesn't give many other clues. But two things seem certain:
1) It isn't a Gibson L-00;
2) Photoshop or no Photoshop, it is not a Fine Resophonic. |

Fine Resophonics are made in France, by Englishman Mike Lewis. Eric Clapton bought at least one from him, possibly more. They are very nicely made... and expensive! http://www.resocentre.com/fine_Reso.htm
