Hawaian Steel Guitar CD
Hello, I have joined Forum 2 months ago.
I was plyaing Hawaian music with my 8 strings Fender & 65 Super Reverve 35 years ago in Japanese amateur band. Now I have been learning Pedal Steel from Dick Meis. I have several old Hawaian records of Hawaii Calls & Paua Almeida and so on. I wonder if I can get any good CD of Jules Ah See & Pua Almeida. Just one year ago I have decided to
practise steel guitar again afyter 35years blank. I have been enjoying reading all thearticle in Forum.

Welcome, Manubu. I recommend Auntie Maria's Hawaiian Music Island web site for your Hawaiian music needs. I believe both those guitarists are featured on the CD "Hukilau Hulas", but I can't say for sure.

In addition ....Tracks 2-5 feature Sol Hoopii backing Lena on that CD .... from the sessions she did with him in LA in 1935.
And the picture of them at the South Seas on Hollywood Blvd is ....
Sol looks alittle uncomfortable in that white sports jacket though ... but that frypan sure looks at home on his lap.
The first Dick McIntire record that I ever heard was a Decca ... various artist compilation.... with him backing Lena on two songs ... both ended up on Bruce Clarke's Restorations
[This message was edited by Rick Aiello on 01 November 2002 at 03:29 PM.]
