Is this C6th or lower by Buddy Emmons
Buddy Emmons impressed me with his great pure steel tone in this song. Unlike anything I heard him play before. It sounds to me like a steel tuned lower than C6th. But who has more info about it.

Are you sure that is Buddy.
That almost sounds like a non-pedal steel.

AUTHORIZED PEAVEY, George L's, Goodrich dealer. I have 2 steels and several amps. My current rig of choice is 1993 Emmons LeGrande w/ 108 pups (Jack Strayhorn built for me), Goodrich OMNI Volume Pedal, George L's cables and Peavey Nashville-Session 112 or 115.

Thanks Donny, Andrew and Bill for giving me your opinions. Bill; yes I am sure, it is stated so in the story in the CD`s booklet and apart from that, it is one of Buddy’s signature licks. But what I was curious about was the timbre of the playing like his guitar was a “baritone” steel like there are baritone 6 string guitars. It might even be a software thing. There used to be one-octave-below pedals and Buddy was always experimenting with tone. And yes the thought of a non pedal guitar crossed my mind to

I agree with Andrew Frost, it's a great lick and one he used at the end of verse 1 in Judy Collin's "Someday Soon." I nicknamed that lick "sagging into the 5 chord"!

I was told the whole album was Buddy’s “Brown Bart” Emmons LeGrande into a Brad Sarno “Black Box,” thru a Goodrich Volume Pedal into a Nashville 112.
It’s on E9. I’d play it this way…

Thank you all for replying. My question was not what Buddy was playing, because it is one of his his signature licks, but on what guitar, because the timbre is low. I play this on a guitar with a D tuning and it is still not sounding as sonorous as this track.
Ernie is probably right, but I still wonder.

I was talking to Brad Sarno about the Black Box. He said I should go listen to that Willie album. At that time Buddy was using Brown Bart in the studio. He was going simpler around that time. I don’t recall him affirming that was the setup, but if it hadn’t been he would’ve said something.
