hi Paul… Wednesdays are usually good nights for steel in Asheville, Matt Smith hosts a songwriter showcase at Highland Brewing’s main location from 6-8. Matt plays steel with Amanda Anne Platt and Amy Ray Band among others.

then there’s Western Wednesday at Double Crown on the west side which usually has steel, though not guaranteed. I’m not familiar with this week’s performers Marley Hale and Nicky Diamonds but music starts around 9pm

Cork & Keg (Weinhaus) downtown usually has live country music on Fridays and Saturdays, not sure about this weekend though.

I see Julia Sanders is playing Jack of the Wood on Fri at 9pm, she's a wonderful singer-songwriter who usually has pedal steel in the band

also, it looks like Matt Smith is out of town this week but he'll be back next Wed if you're still around
