Up to 2020, I had 'E9 C6' on an FL plate. I moved to England temporarily and, in the process, sold the car and relinquished the tag.
On Monday, I thought I'd get it back.
'Not Available', said the Collier County clerk.
'Oh, no!', said I.
It HAS to be another steel player, surely?
I then asked for 'C6 E9' - that one, I could have, but I'd gone off the idea. I have chosen:
'RR 43'.
Regrettably, RR1 is doubtless adorning a Rolls-Royce. There is no shortage of Rolls-Royces in Naples, but none on our street!
Does anyone on the Forum know where E9 C6 is now? I recall John Hughey having that on a TN plate.

I'm committed to 'RR 43' now, Ben, but thank you.
Once it's taken, it's unavailable until whomever relinquishes it.
I know it's a bit silly, but it's fun. In the UK, cherished numbers are an industry. My friend Keith Sellers once had 'KS1' on his Rolls-Royce. He paid £15k in 1990!
He let it go and now? It's available for £300,000! At least RR 43 in FL only cost a few dollars.

I can imagine your disappointment when you found out "E9 C6" was no longer available. And then the irony of "C6 E9" being available, but you'd lost interest by then.
I love the new plate you've chosen, "RR 43" - it's a great nod to your initials and a subtle reference to your steel guitar passion. |

It's actually shorthand for my birth year.

I am indebted to Ashton Evans, a steel player who happens to work in his County's license office.
When I checked the website, it said E9C6 was 'unavailable'. The website, however, doesn't know who's accessing the site.
Ashton looked it up and assured me that it was still in my name, despite my having not renewed it since 2020.
IF I had gone directly to my Collier County license office and asked for E9 C6. I would have got it.
Now, it's too late: 'RR 43' has already been manufactured and is on its way in the mail.
