Nylon head stripped off of pull rod

Post by Daniel Sowards »

Hello All,

I noticed my RKR lever will not engage the 2nd string on the E9 neck. You can see in the picture below the nylon head has stripped clean off of the pull rod. Is this an easy fix or does the whole rod need to be replaced? Thanks!

Looks like all you will need is another nylon tuner and maybe a spacer of some sort.

On an Emmons the old gray tuning nuts harden with age and crack or strip. Just replace it.

Yes just replace but if you wished to the best thing would be to take the rod out and clean up the threads as there will be left over plastic in them. A wire brush or run a threading die over it.

Clean the threads on the rod, Find and replace the spacer. Since the hole is drilled from one end to the other of the tuning nut , A quick fix may be just turn the nut around and thread the other end on the rod.

But looks like time to get a few spare tuning nuts and spacers to add to your seats stash of parts.

Thanks everyone,

I was able to order tuning nuts. I'll have to improvise for the spacer.
