Have you tried McMaster Carr. They have a bunch of hex internally threaded rod connectors. I don’t recall the size for ZB guitars.

Thanks Tony- the shortest they have for 6-32 is 3" and I was hoping for something shorter but they do have the right and left handed threads on them so I've got that goin for me :).

ZB pull train rod and spokes are 6-40 thread. The spokes are right-handed , and the pull rods are lefty's. You can buy 1/4 hex aluminum rods from McMaster-Carr, and center drill and tap them on a small lathe.
