Pickups
I have a Carter Pro S-10 with George L's. I'd like to try a different pickup in my steel. What would be the best pickup to replace my original pickup? Thanks, BB.

I'm partial to Bill Lawrence pickups. I have an XR-16 on the E9 of my Carter D10 with a switch mounted under the guitar to switch it from humbucker to single coil. I have a 710 on my C6 neck. I've never tried one, but many love the 705.
Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, NV400, NV112 . Playing for 53 years and still counting.

What Dave G said (Telonics), except I use the Model 84 version, with each string adjustable for both chime and growl...if you don't know what you want, you can just twirl the adjusting slugs till it nouns right...but be prepared to spend a while doing that, bit by bit.

A different pickup may give you a very slight change. On the other hand (depending on what amp you're using now), a different amp might give you a whole new world of sounds and EFX.
