Beautiful Juan--Can you say a little more about the finish? It looks like it may have an epoxy finish because it looks thick. Is the whole body made of custom fiber or custom fiber on wood? Dan

Here's a link to how Emerald make their guitars, I did not commission this build, I bought it from someone else, so I can't say much more than this video will tell you. It's a beautiful instrument that sounds wonderful, but I have too many instruments and lap steel is a secondary pursuit for me, so I'm thinning the herd...let me know if you have any questions or email me directly at juancalama@gmail.com

Dan......The whole body is carbon fiber. This particular guitar does not have a wood veneer on it, but a custom guitar can have a thin wood veneer placed on the guitar top.

Thanks John,
What effect does carbon fiber have on the sound? Is it made from a mold?

I have one and it sounds fantastic acoustically. Very rich and warm with beautiful definition. I don’t know if they use a mold or not.

Dan, yes, it’s made from a mold. The sound is very rich and projects very strongly. The body is huge (but light because of the carbon fiber), and the placement of the two sound holes really facilitates the positive sound qualities. Ive become so enamored with this instrument that I’ve bought four of them (three custom, one stock, which is for sale on the forum) in the last year at the expense of some dental work I need to have done. But hey, who needs to eat at my age? This is the only instrument I try to play these days. Amazing technology, playability, and aesthetics.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It isn't even a close call between teeth vs guitar--guitar wins every time.
