Thomas pickup selector switch replacement

I recently bought a Thomas D10 and have found that the pickup selector switch is intermittent. I'd like to replace the switch, but it's not obvious how to do this as the switch seems to be buried under the neck. Do I need to pull the entire wire assembly, pickups and all, to extract the switch?
