Does anyone know who played steel guitar on Move It On Over? I'm asking about the version included in "Hank Williams 40 Greatest Hits."
I've transcribed the solo, and the tuning appears to be Don Helms' E6 but with the low string tuned to B.

According to the Hank Williams biography by Colin Escott, the steel player was Smokey Lohman from Red Foley's band.

Leon’s E13 won’t work. You need to drop the low F# to E, making it like a E6. Last week, I learned it in C6, since it seems like the original steel guitars was trying to sound a little like Jerry Byrd with that “slide into slant”. With the thicker C6 tone, I like it better, plus no need to untune my E13 neck. Good call on the C6, Joe!
