My Kline S-12, ordered new in '78, and a GES I bought used that same year, I think. Both were from Harry Guffee's shop in CT. Still have them both.

Probably the shortest and longest headstocks on any of my steels.

I took the pad off of this one and put in a 6 string G tuning neck. However, I have a new Williams 12 extE9 on order. Can hardly wait…but I’ll have to!

I'm looking forward to posting pictures of my new Williams 12-string (D13th).

I thought I'd have it by now! It's now into the thirteenth month since I ordered it yet there's not even a word to say it's 'imminent'. (I've asked Bill to do a final check with me over the setup before he rods the guitar; no such call has yet come so who knows how far out it is?)

Part of me wishes I'd gone with a G2 - I'd have had it six months ago - but I know Bill's product is first class.

Oh, well: 'watch this space', I guess. :(

Roger,
I received my new Williams S12 a few months ago. The new Williams changer 4 over 3 with annodized fingers has a presence and a "growl" you won't believe. It's a work of art. You'll be very pleased.

Steve:

I do hope you're right. Back in June, '22, Bill estimated '10-12 months' but I realize that certain factors are beyond his control.

My choice was dictated by my need for 'three lowers'; only a handful of makers do this. MSA quoted 24 months (!), Rittenberry weren't much sooner and Mullen's price was $1000 above the Williams.

All this angst, waiting for news, and I have no idea how I'm going to get along with a 12-string after decades with a D-10, much less the new tuning (D13th).

I got carried away. I should have told myself: 'D13th is a brilliant concept and, were I starting out today, that's what I'd choose.' But no: I plunged headlong into it and, during the wait for my Williams, I turned 80. Insanity? :)

Did you leave that Stringtone Changer on your 'back-neck six-stringer' operable?

Neat idea

Yes. I installed it myself, in fact. It is a fairly rare one that moves 4 strings so I can get GBDGBD / DADF#AD or DADF#BD tunings. Mighty handy! I have the same type on a Supro lapsteel, too. I’ve collected several Stringtones over the last 35 years and have different varieties. They’re more primitive than the Hipshot Double Shot (which I have on my dobros) but they work well.
