Report on the Southeast Texas Steel Guitar Club/Jam/

Post by Jim Saunders »

Sunday, we had our monthly meeting/jam, with a disappointingly small attendance. Nevertheless, we had a great jam with Billy Phelps on steel and drums. Patty Phelps on bass, keyboards and vocal. Tim Marlin on his MSA uni, Jim Saunders on a Mullen D10, Doug Elverud on his Sierra D10, vocals and rhythm guitar. Also, Larry Schoppe on bass and vocals.

The church provides a great venue for our meetings, even though it's a bit further than our former Katy spot. From Houston, it's 20 minutes further than Katy.

I'm a new student of the pedal steel and checking to see if there are any groups that meet near Fort Worth.
Thank you

Hey Jim

Sorry to hear attendance was down.

I'm curious, how exactly do you run a jam with live players? I've had some locals here suggest that, but I haven't been able to wrap my head around how esactly it would be done. I've only been to jams using band in a box tracks, which is fine, but nobody wants to fork over the $ for that software. Any advice appreciated.

If it makes you feel better, I've done that so many times I couldn't count, on my car forum, railroad forum and on here.
