Jay Ganz Straight Ahead amp
Hello fellow steelers,
I recently got a Straight Ahead amp from Jay Ganz. This was to replace a tube amp head I had built out of an old Hammond organ. The tube amp sounded great, although it produced less than 20 Watts of power. Mostly, I was tired of lugging that weight up stairs.
The Straight Ahead fits into a space 1/6 the size of that tube head. The Straight Ahead amp delivers tons of clean amplification. It colours the tone much less than the tube head did.
I play PSG and Tele (or mandolin) at gigs. I am running a Frenzel Deluxe Plexi 1 preamp into my basic FX board and then into the Straight Ahead amp.
It is really sounding great! The amp, not my playing.
Jay was a good guy to buy from- very clear communication and a well-built product.
I recommend the Straight Ahead amp.
Thanks, Jay.

I have two of Jay's Straight Ahead Amps in a rack set up. I use one of Brad Sarno's Revelation pre-amps and feed the tubey signal into a "Dual Mono" amp set up. Jay's amps knock 30 pounds out of the rack case.
Jay's Straight Ahead Amps let the Revelation Pre-Amp really "speak for itself." They add little, if any, coloring to the sound coming from the Revelation.
Thank you Jay and Brad... The combination is a great sound at very reasonable weight.

SA Power Amp/Huff Cab
Just completed another “tone chasing” adventure with yet another of Jay Ganz’s Straight Ahead 500 watt Power Amps. Had our Forum Master Cab builder, Mr. Tommy Huff, build me a new cab for a new TT-15” Speaker. What a fine rig: Steel—V8 Octal—Delay—SA Amp—TT-15”. I had the TT-12” last summer and it didn’t have (IMHO) the big sound the TT-15 has. I played my fiddle through this rig today and it never sounded so good! All this to say how lucky we are to have folks like Jay and Tommy. Thanks once again Gentlemen for the superb Customer Service…Carl
